This report is based on the author's field interpreting experience at China-Italy Friendly Development Forum in April 2016.The author performed as a member of the Italian delegation,a Chinese-English interpreter and the interpreting team leader during the Forum and she fully demonstrated her visibility in the process of liaison interpreting. The author selected parts from the recordings and transcript of Technology Transfer Forum on April 13 and the welcoming lunch on April 14 for a case study to present the three roles of interpreter, namely a coordinator,a co-constructor and a gatekeeper. The report includes five main chapters.Chapter one introduces the task description including the forum, the clients, the direct users and challenges.Chapter two describes the author's preparation for this task including long-term preparation and short-term preparation. The third chapter reviews studies of liaison interpreting, compares invisibility and visibility and briefs three roles of interpreter's visibility namely a coordinator,a co-constructor and a gatekeeper.Next in chapter four, the author combines theory and practice, using case analysis to show the multiple roles taken by the author and the visibility shown within.Later on in chapter five, the author goes on to sum up some feedback both in verbal and nonverbal manner from the clients, the direct users and the audience, and reflects on her performance in terms of interpreting and project management.Last but not the least, the author concludes this report by not only affirming language skills, encyclopedic knowledge, good psychological quality and full preparation as the key factors of a successful and effective task but also underpinning the subjectivity consciousness and proper visibility during the liaison interpreting process.
