On Badiou’s Revaluation Of Auschwitz Proposition

This paper interprets the French philosopher Badiou’s revalation of the proposition of "after Auschwitz".From the perspective of post-war philosophy,Badiou argues that the Auschwitz proposition is actually a manifestation of the prejudice of its times.He identified the fault in "poetic suture" and the Romantic Schema.In these theories,poetry arrogate the rational areas and political areas,therefore need to be responsible for the Holocaust.After the suture was removed,Badiou returned Nazi and its Holocaust to politics.But he also found that today’s critique of Nazi exposes that political philosophy only attaches importance to public opinion and binds politics with ethics.Through reflection of this kind of political-ethic,Badiou calls for a return to poetry.The connection between political truth and modern poetry lies in transcend of ethics,inner language and univocal truth.Some poets’ works show the possibility of poetic speech of Holocaust,by interpreting their work,Badiou tries to understand how would Auschwitz event happen.Therefore,it is not only possible to write poetry after Auschwitz,but also the best way to rethink tragedy.
