The Research On Sacrifice To Ancestors Of Government Officials And People Since The Tang Dynasty

Li distinguish the differences between different things.The size and number and technological level of the objects which be used in ceremony show Li’s hierarchical nature.As important part for ancestor worship ceremony,temple,ancestral tablets,sacrificial utensil and food,and vestments distinguish the grades between emperor and his people at the same time.Although most of the Dynasty’s Li originated from the Zhou Dynasty,but with the passage of time and the changes in customs and habits,there are still a lot of differences between different dynasties.In this paper,the objects for ancestor worship ceremony of the officials and civilians after the Tang Dynasty is the main research subject.I hope to grasp the characteristics and the evolution trend of the objects for ancestor worship ceremony,and provide a supplement for the study of ancestral worship.There are three chapters in this paper.The first chapter is mainly on the development of the objects for ancestor worship ceremony.Both the official and private book of rites,Zhengshu,history books and individual papers are my databases.This paper classified the objects which be used in ancestral worship of government officials and civilians since the Tang Dynasty into two categories:one is about the ancestral gods,including two parts:the architecture of temples and ancestral tablets,it is the second chapter;the another one is about descendants,consists sacrificial utensil,food and vestments.This is the third chapter.
