It has been more than 160 years since the emergence of study of horizontal-vertical illusion. Researchers have done extensive studies and proposed a series of theoretical hypothesis, but these still could not fully explain the mechanism of horizontal-vertical illusion. This study, based on previous research, analysising the influences of the positions of bisector on illusion by series of experiments. Our study consisted of three parts. The first part aimed to explore if the running length of experimental materials (500ms and 1000ms) would affect the horizontal-vertical illusion. This study would also provide guidance for the problem of material running time in following experiments. The second part is an eye movement experiment research, combining the eye movement indexes and illusion result, we discussed the effects of positions of bisected lines on illusion and further investigate and discuss the relation of vertical and bisection biases. The third part included two experiments and the purposes of this study was to confirm whether individual conception will affect the illusion. The warning intervention will using in experiment A and participants in experiment B would generate its own conception by a task. The main conclusion is provided as follows:(1) the running length of experimental materials would not affect the horizontal-vertical illusion;(2) the inverted "T" figure illusion at least includes vertical illusion and bisection illusion, while the bisection illusion that usually dominate;(3) The roles of vertical illusion and bisection illusion are interrelated in the process of illusion. Bsymmetiy and asymmetry of bisection have different consequences on line length perceptions, bisection illusion will reduce the effect of vertical illusion when asymmetric bisection.(4) The processing of illusion may start in the early stages of consciousness, and it is an inherent tendency of processing. The conscious conception intervention could not change the processing tendency, by contrast, would make the individual to produce more distorted judgment.
