The Semantic Analysis And The Culture Explanation Of "Jia" And The Words Including "Jia"

"Jia" is the word with abundant Chinese culture and symbolic meanings, its original meaning is "floristic shell", Predecessors had many studies in the field of costume, for instance "barde". This article cleared up 10 meanings and their words of "Jia" from "Chinese Dictionary", then analyzed their meanings. Based on these meanings, this essay interpreted semantic root, and analyzed the cultural connotation from three aspects: traditional folk-custom, sense of hierarchy and military culture.Then discussed the worship of "Jia". In ancient time, "Jia" symbolized superior and honorable things,such as "Jiadi"(the superior land). In modern times, "Jia" is still a hierarchical symbol, it symbolizes authority and worship gradually. Social development and life-style exert influences on the semantic transformation, this phenomenon is worth researching.
