As the microcosm of Chinese traditional culture and national spirit, idiom possesses a long history and full cutural connotation. It is an important part of Chinese vocabulary, and it plays an important role in foreign Chinese teaching.This research paper focuses on the study of errors appearing when foreigners are studying Chinese idiom. The HSK dynamic composition corpus of Beijing Language and Culture University is the corpus source of this paper.The research scope of this paper is four 117 words in the Outline cf the new Chinese Proficiency Test. Totally 1688 idioms are retrieved by means of word searching. The remaining 656 wrong sentences are objects of this paper. Then, every wrong sentence is clarified according to the error type by using the theory of second language acquisition, and the author got the reasons of mistakes caused by foreign students. Then, the corresponding teaching strategies are put forward.This paper is divided into 5 parts:The frst part includes the reasons of choosing the topic, current research, content, purpose and methods of research.The second part introduces the meaning and effects of idioms teaching in foreign Chinese teaching.The third part counts and analysizes the types of errors made by foreign students in the HSK dynamic composition corpus.The forth part analysizes types of errors and puts forward the corresponding teaching suggestions.The fifth part is the summary.
