The Research Of Devadatta On The Tale Types In The Chinese Buddhists

As a famous figure in the history of Buddhism,Devadatta had his religious doctrine and believers.He once standed up to the Buddha as an equal.In The Academia Circles,the studies on Devadatta often pay more attention to the textual criticism on Devadatta’life story and his thought in terms of history.However,researchers don’t have much concern for the Devadatta stories which are very interesting and full of literariss in the Buddhist sutras.This text has a try to study the Devadatta stories in the Chinese language Buddhist scriptures from the angle of literature.Firstly,we make a brief explanation to the life story of Devadatta who was one of the history figures.Secondly,we list two Devadatta stories in the Chinese language Buddhist scriptures:Monkeys Grasp for the Moon and Yegan Break the Jar,in this way,we make a brief discussion on the process of how the Devadatta stories which have not become Story Types get into Buddhist scriptures from Indian folktales,and then, the Devadatta stories come into China by Chinese thanslation of Buddhist sutra.Thirdly,we use the theoretical method of Story Typology in folk literature to make a detailed analysis of the Devadatta stories which have not become Story Types by the AT classification which is the international general standard.This text have talked about seven story types which are related to Devadatta:76 Wolf and crane 、91 Monkey forgets its heart at home、113B Cat feigns sage、160 Grateful animal,ungrateful man、 910K Injunctions and letters of Julia、930 Prophecy、1310 To punish lobster,let it drowned in the water.Through detailed analysis of the seven Story Types,we make a comparison research between the stories in the Buddhist scriptures and the same type of stories from other parts of word especially China.In this way,we put forward the possible origin of the stories in the Buddhist scriptures and the way they spread.We fosus on discussing the process of the Buddhist scriptures stories which come into China by translation take root and sprout in Chinese ethnic groups.The specific ways of the narrative literature of Buddhist scripture produce effect on Chinese folk literature especially folktales energe visually in the course of this discussion.
