Abstract/Summary:
The myth of creation is one way of human beings to understand the world and recognize themselves.Early humans, for his or her part, creation myth has been thought to be the carrier culture which influences experience of life, customs and moral rules. Each nation has its own myths about how the world was created. In western culture, the biblical creation account is well known by Christians, while in China, the most famous creation myth is Pangu mythology, the male creator of the universe.Meanwhile,in China,Nuwa is another creator in mythology, the goddess who made human beings by moulding yellow clay.Since Mythology became closely linked with morality from the beginning of human society,in this paper,I argue that each classical creation myth which includes the origination of the world and human beings should think of God as having morality. In form,my position largely takes details of different mythology from three aspects:creator, creative process and creative result to compare with each other.I argue that God in western is invisible, irritability and have ability to destroy all living things, however,Pangu and Nuwa is visible, kind and have the capacity to act morally, and to be altruistic or benevolent. But no matter how different it may seem, the common thing is human beings are made by dust of ground. In the second,I turn to consider how the claim that all the values are related to moral origination, the standard of moral, feminine right and view of nature might best be understood base on the conclusion we talked above, arguing that traditional chinese moral values have attached great importance to fertility, and for women, bearing is a major event in life, and the impact on women is great and far-reaching.Besides,the power of genetic holism can be seen in this human breeding, therefore, chinese ancestors were multiplying, attaching great importance to create overall harmony of secular life, which presents a perennial overall upward life philosophy and heroic spirit in the broad mind harmony of the universe.Yet,western culture people who have appreciation for the kingdom of heaven did not translate into understanding more mundane aspects of chinese life.Although the chinese and the western mythology reflect different moral values, human beings,as ethical subject, are the same in the whole world for his\her inherent human’s spirit, which make anything possible. In the third section,I argue that China-western mythology impacts on their owm traditional cultural, which influence the attitude towards life and determine the direction we’re taking.Further more, each myth is an excellent path for an ideal life as these goals will commit themselves to a relatively perfect world fill with higher moral standards. However, the practice shows chinese or western people would encounter a dilemma on their own because of external environmental constraints and perfect uncertainty. Thus, this paper is not just taking what’s the difference between the chinese culture and western culture, neither studying the religious ethnics, but to analysis the textual content to reveal the different moral modes of chinese and western culture in the view of moral,of values and of ethnic. In a word, starting from the myth of creation ideal to serve practice of ethic spirit and subject development.
