The Function Of Moral Principle In Intergroup Conflict

The real world exist all kinds of group conflict, in these conflicts phenomenon, there is a moral principle figure,but,there has almost no social psychology research for this concept that most view in our culture,Combined with cognitive dissonance, social identity, self confirmed theoretical derivation,the article through the three experiments to tentative study how moral principle take place in intergroup conflict.Before the study, we defined moral principle as:in background of intergroup conflict,the reasons that group claimed for it behavior and intention. Then, according to the basic group task in conflict, we divided the existence of moral principle into:survival moral principle, develop moral principle,surpass moral principle,and in line with the general to the specific structure,we divided different moral principle into:intension, task, case, on the basis of the understanding of the above, we applied the projection thought to designed three experiments, to increase the understanding of moral principle and conflict successively.all participants were northwest normal university students.based on the consideration of experimental environment,the experiments took place in self study room.a total of110subjects participated in the experiment,the basic experiment process is reading instruction,Understanding case and take tendency react to variables.Experiments1study both the moral principle and conflict situation in internal support and general support influence, the results showed that the structure validity of the group conflict situation was verified, in on-way ANOVA analyze, moral principle had no difference in two kind of support, but conflict situations had significant difference in two, and among them, both survival and development situation of internal situation support and external support are significantly higher than surpass situation.the interaction of Both had significant differences in internal support, in survival situation, with moral principle had less of inner support degree than without, and in development situation, with moral principle had higher inner support degree than without.In addition, in intergroup conflicts, the ingroup support aways higher than general support whatever group behavior and behavior intention with or without moral principle support.The experiment2explore the role of moral principle in perspective of dynamic group conflict development progress,use mutual item process section to mark intergroup conflict development.compare to no moral principle controls,the process that with moral principle has four sections, all have the dependent variables internal support,common support, favorable expected, dictatorship, continue to participate in, internal consistency,control variable was the sympathy of the group,the result shows that the difference of conflict process only appear in internal support, continue to participate in,control group higher in the internal support, continue to take part in than conflict process D.process D that with conflict continues when mutual item had finished,which has lower internal support than B,has lower internal support than B,comprehensive analysis of above results,we get a corollary:there may be exist of difference between Nominal Moral Principle (NMP)and Essence Moral Principle(EMP),people’s judgment about behavior or behavior intention whether or not meet moral principle rule belongs to EMP,and group claims of moral belong to NMP,that will influence of EMP,Influence people’s judgment is EMP.The experiment3proved that moral principle implied attitude information not matching conflict severity can damage the internal support,common support, favorable expected, moral approve-ment, therefore,NMP implied information should fit people’s understanding of the conflict.Finally, we discussed the reasons that would explained the experimental results and the enlightenment we can reach,in addition,we use a model to characterization of the finds and corollaries.
