A Study Of Ecological Thought In Edward Abby's Literary Works

Edward Abby is a very influential American revolutionary writer of the20 th century and he has created many deep influential ecological literature,such as Desert Solitaires?The Monkey Wrench Gang and Hay duke lives.In these works,Abby shows in the reflection and criticism of industrial civilization and human centralism,anxiety and anger of the wanton destruction of the ecological environment of human behavior.Based on the spirit of the desert and wilderness without a central position,Abbey put forward criticism and rethink on Anthropocentrism and developmentally,he try to use idealization modern dwelling to mediate the contradiction between man and nature,but also to desolate desert world full of divine love of nature and awaken people to cherish;the other side to violence--direct catalytic ecological approach is believed to destroy the ecological environment destruction facilities,so as to achieve the purpose of ecological protection.He hoped that through this idea,to achieve harmony between man and nature,can make the value of wilderness preservation,and to enable people to find the truth of life and love,so as to make people more freedom and poetically on the earth.This paper consists of three parts.The first part looks at how does Edward Abbey change from an everyman to an ecological man and discuss his creative stage.The second part discusses the two basic spirit of the ecological thought of Abby,namely the divine spirit of the wilderness and the desert without a central spirit,and pointed out that the desert no center on the one hand to expand the wilderness of the divine spirit,on the other side of the anthropomorphism stand a reflection of criticism.It consists of two group spirit guides to achieve ecological claims of the abbey.The third part is the two groups that Abby has carried on board the analysis and the expansion of ecological.And pointed out that in the "ideal life",Abby tried to complete the transcendence of anthropomorphism,but the ecological utopia ideal living picture actually has natural limitations,only to the ecological holism perspective to complete this transcendence;and in the "ecological intentional destruction".On the one hand,affirmed the ecological significance of Abby intentionally destroyed,but the other party advocate's ecology for this radical also raised criticism.All in all,Abby's ecological thought has its rational side is also shown some limitations,but the relationship between man and nature and actively advocated bold ideas.For inspiring and critical value of our thinking about the relationship between man and natural environment is thinking.Further,Abby's ecosystem works through appearances and further to the level of the relationship between man and nature,he pondered the possibility of the relationship between man and nature and explain this possibility,that is to say,Abby in the pursuit of the relationship between man and nature is what and how philosophical proposition,although this may not have to ask true value is satisfied with the results,but this question itself is valuable.
