This is a translation report on The Rainbow Comes and Goes, which is written by Anderson Cooper, an American writer. As for literary translation, the translator should not only transfer authentic content to the readers,but also retain the original style of the source text. On the basis of the faithfulness of original text, how to retain the style is worth studying and exploring. The strategy of direct translation in relevance theory can offer some guidance for style translation. The translator should try his/her best to retain communicative clues of the original text to achieve the optimal relevance, thus the cognitive context of the target language readers and the source language readers can be consistent, and the original style can be reproduced. From the perspective of relevance theory,this report chooses a translated chapter of The Rainbow Comes and Goes as studying material, and provides with five ways to retain original style in fiction translation. From the five aspects, this report analyzes the ways to keep communicative clues in order to retain the original style.This report can be divided into four parts:The first part is introduction, which introduces the importance of style in fictions,the guidance of relevance theory in style translation, the source of the text, and the writing significance. The second part is translation process description, including pre-translation preparation, translating process and items after translation process. The pre-translation preparation includes text reading,information integration and translation plan. Translation process describes the implementation schedule of the translation plan.Items after translation process includes self-revision and others-revision. The third part is case analysis,which provides with five ways to retain the original style. The last part is conclusion. The translator analyzes some problems and sums up the lessons in this translation practice.
