As a literary technique, parody has a long history, and it has been widely used in the field of postmodern culture.Based on people's different views and practices about parody, the relevant debates about postmodern culture have never stopped. The thesis proposed a kind of postmodern parody form that is double-coded.Through the analysis of its definition, structure, function and effect, and discussions of its historical and political dimensions, the thesis will show its value and significance in the development of postmodern culture.Starting from the origin and definition of the concept of "postmodernism",chapter I expounds the concept of double-coding postmodernism from architecture to literature and art, meanwhile the thesis emphasizes the dual complexity of postmodernism, whose typical representative form of expression is parody.Secondly, chapter ? discusses the dual meaning and textual structure from the etymological and historical perspectives, and emphasizes the pragmatic dimension that cannot be neglected in the postmodern culture practice. Thus, the thesis analyzed the process of coding and decoding in parody operations and the complex intents it contains. Then, chapter ? discusses the historical issues of parody,in the debate with the western Marxist theory,it reveals how parody is critically rewritten the past with ironic review. Finally, through the analysis of the postmodern situation characterized by commercial consumption and popular entertainment, chapter IV reaffirms the complex intention and important value of double-coded postmodern parody. The thesis also discussed the unique situation of Chinese postmodern culture.By the dual forms and complex intents,double-coded postmodern parody becomes a kind of prevailing cultural practical form with rich connotations and huge vigor.
