Research On Terminology And Non-Terminology In Taoist Terminology

Taoist terminology,the technical term of Taoism,is an important part of Chinese vocabulary.Terminology and common words can be transformed by a variety of means.This two-way transformation is called terminology and non-terminology.Terminology refers to the transition of a vocabulary unit from the general vocabulary category to the term category.On the contrary,non-terminology is the terminology turn into the daily field and become common vocabulary from the original professional category.This paper mainly focuses on the Taoist terminology in Taoist Dictionary.Adopting the theories of statistical investigation,description and interpretation,and using the theories of terminology,lexicology and cognitive linguistics to describe the basic profiles of the terminology and non-terminology of Taoist vocabulary,study the transformation between Taoist terminology and ordinary vocabulary from the perspective of semantic,and also reveal the way and the reasons of terminology and non-terminology.First,reviews the research on terminology and non-terminology,Taoist vocabulary.Introduces the main concepts and theories involved in this paper,including terminology,Taoist terminology and common words and analyzes the two-way transformation between terminology and common words,i.e.terminology and non-terminology.Another kind of terminology is the transformation of term from one category to another,which is called secondary terminology.There are two main types of Taoist terminology.One kind is from the terminology of common words,and another kind is from the secondary terminology of terms.Meaning extension is the main method of terminology,including metaphors,metonymy and symbolism.The secondary terminology includes Taoist subsystem terminology,Buddhist terminology and feudalism terminology,and.There are two main ways of terminology,using the words existing as Taoist terms and using the words as terminology elements or terminology components to form new terms.The reasons of terminology include the characteristics of language,mental association,the openness of Taoist culture,and the mystique of Taoist language.The ways of non-terminology includes using terminology directly in daily life and change the structure or combine with other language elements.Both of the two ways lead to meaning extension through metaphor,metonymy.Non-terminology generally experiences pragmatics stage and semantics stage.These two stages mean the level of non-terminology from low to high.The factors of non-terminology of Taoist terminology include language factor,the impact of Taoist culture on society,human cognitive psychology and pragmatic psychology of language users.
