A Report On Translation Of The Extracts From An Approach To Classical Chinese Dance

This thesis,based on An Approach to Classical Chinese Dance by Hu Wei and Zhu Xi,two renowned educationalists in classical Chinese dance,is a translation report that summarizes the whole process of translation and translation methods of the related text.The English version of this book has not been found yet.The fourth chapter The Analysis on the Language and Form of Classical Chinese Dance is selected as the translation material to fulfill the translation practice.This report consists of five parts.The first part is an introduction to the background and significance of this report,and at the same time it puts forward a concise review of research on translation of Chinese traditional arts in China.The second part describes the task of the translation of An Approach to Classical Chinese Dance,and it includes the introduction of the author,the original text and an analysis of the whole text.The third part describes the process of the translation of An Approach to Classical Chinese Dance,which consists of three parts: the preparation of translation,the process of translation and proofreading.The fourth part,mainly discusses the quality control of the translation of An Approach to Classical Chinese Dance.The part analyzes the strategies and difficulties in the process of translation guided by translational validity theory.The fifth part makes a summarization on the harvest and deficiency during this translation practice and proposed some advice for the translation of the books of classical dance.Based on this translation practice,the thesis tries to analyze the translation procedures,summarize the translation strategies and methods of books in the categories of classical Chinese dance and offer some advice for the practice and development of translation of books in the categories of classical Chinese dance,hoping to provide some beneficial reference for the research and practice of the Chinese-English translation of the books in the categories of classical Chinese dance.
