Locality 1 of Zhoukoudian(Peking Man site)and Nihewan basin are the typical regions of the archaeological work of Paleolithic Period.The Homo erectus pekinensis excavated from Locality 1 of Zhoukoudian is the first discovery of Homo erectus in China,which can be identified as the important role in human history of development stage.A substantial research effort about this site has been undertaken,some of which has achieved remarkable achievements.Based on the distinct features of its stone artifacts,Professor Jia lanpo put forwards an important theory,which is about the two major paleolithic cultures in the North China.Although the paleolithic archaeology in the Nihewan Basin started later than the Peking Man site,numerous of paleolithic sites were found in this area,the array of archaeological cultures of where survive successively from lower paleolithic period to upper paleolithic period.Undoubtedly,the great importance of Nihewan basin in anthropology and archaeology is comparable to Olduvai Gorge in Africa.Furthermore,the Paleolithic culture of Nihewan basin have last for a long time before the Peking Man emerged,so the relationship between them is of great significance.However,the author noticed that the research in this respect have rarely been carried out present.Based on the stone artifacts unearthed from Nihewan basin and the Peking Man site,the author carried out a preliminary investigation of the relationship between the paleolithic culture of Nihewan basin and Peking Man culture.This paper consist of five parts:the first chapter summarizes the research results of Nihewan basin and Peking Man site;the second and third chapter give a classification of the stone artifacts of Nihewan basin and Peking Man site according to typology.In the fourth chapter,based on information and research data above,the writer make an investigation on the relationship of the two culteres.The fifth chapter sums up the features of the stone artifacts in Nihewan basin and Peking Man site,then gives opinions.
