The Study On The Prepositions In Xihe Dialect

The Xihe dialect is a local dialect which belongs to the Qinlong area of northern dialect region. There is lots of linguistic phenomenon in Xihe dialect worthy of study. But few research results have been published; there is no specialized research for preposition in Xihe dialect. In this thesis, we collected the corpus by means of field investigation and analyzed the prepositions in the dialect of Xihe by using the preposition theory of Chinese. It is hoped that this thesis will provide some reference for the future study of Xihe dialect and Chinese preposition and the promotion of Putonghua.This thesis consists of four chapters. The first chapter introduced the phonetics of the Xihe dialect, clarified the existing preposition theory, and presented the research method and so on, which laid the foundation for the follow-up study. In the second chapter, the Xihe dialect prepositions were classified and described, and the Xihe dialect prepositions were divided into five major categories and 19 subclasses. The prepositions of Xihe dialect include 56 multi-category (including 19 subclasses) and exclude 45 multi-categories of them. On the basis of classification, this thesis described the basic semantic functions and usage of each preposition in Xihe dialect by listing the dialect corpus and analyzing them. The third chapter analyzed the special prepositions in Xihe dialect. This thesis selected 14 special prepositions by comparing the prepositions of Xihe dialect and Putonghua prepositions, and emphatically analyzes 10 special prepositions such as "?", "?" and "?". This thesis analyzed the related sentence patterns, origin, grammaticalization and the similarities and differences compared to other prepositions by linking their multi-category functions. Combining the comprehensive description of chapter two with the key description of chapter three, we can have a comprehensive understanding of Xihe dialect prepositions. The fourth chapter is a supplement to the problems in the prepositions of the Xihe Dialect, such as the concurrent phenomena, the synonyms, the disyllabic prepositions, etc.
