Using color to show the basic characters of objects is a kind of important art language,as well as a bridge between art creators and their audience. To be one formal language of oil painting, color is a way of expression with aesthetic value.Meanwhile, movie art occupies a certain position in modern art and the colors in it can be a kind of language to tell the stories. In other words, movie colors can convey the deep meaning and emotions of one piece of work as well as can create style and express plots. In a word, whether the movie colors are applied in a proper way can influence the conveyance of its deep meaning directly.Oil painting and movie are the typical examples of traditional art and modern art, both of which are the visual arts and they are borrowed and fused with each other at the beginning. With the technical development in modern times, arts are also stepping into a new stage with high speed. To create higher level works, artists always make aesthetic elements in different fields to combine, overlap and borrow, for which can bring new possibility in creation, the same as oil painting and movie art. However, this kind of borrowing and overlapping has always been limited within the practice of artists, without any further study on principles and methods. This thesis will make a comparative study on color language between oil painting and movie from development rules, ways of expressions, aesthetic features and etc.In addition, the similarity and difference are also analyzed, combining with latest theories so that the theory evidence can be provided during the creation on art language in both oil painting and movie.
