A Comparative Study On The Vocabulary Of Yinchuan Dialect And Mandarin

In recent years, with deeply development of the research for Chinese dialect vocabulary, the comparative study of dialect vocabularies also increased year after year. But there are few articles about the comparative study of Yinchuan dialect vocabularies and Mandarin vocabularies. Based on a large amount of the description, analysis, comparison of the vocabularies between Yinchuan dialect and Mandarin, this thesis is going to find out the similarities and differences between them and tries to explore the reasons for the differences. In the course of the study, this article follows the principle of combining theory with practice, using the method of field investigation, comparative analysis method, exemplification method and literature analysis method to investigate the detailed descriptions and theories on the topic. The introduction part mainly introduces the purpose, significance, method and the sketches of Yinchuan dialect. Chapter Two and Chapter Three mainly analyze and compare the similarities and differences of vocabularies between Yinchuan dialect and Mandarin from four aspects including the pronunciation, form, meaning and etymology. Chapter Three compares the vocabularies of folk, curse words, taboos and daily life from the perspective of social environment. Chapter Four analyzes and discusses the reasons of vocabulary differences between Yinchuan dialect and Mandarin, from the difference of language formation and social historical reasons. With the deepening of the research, the author found a phenomenon that there are three or even four syllables of light tone variations in vocabulary of Yinchuan dialect. Hoping the research can contribute for the future study of Yinchuan dialect and ethnology.
