| In the past, the female image of the Journey to the West has not been paid attention to, but the research of this field in recent years has made some progress. However, most of the experts and scholars will be locked into the image of the women themselves. They will be classified and analyzed, and the general description of the image of the women is all that will be seen. The limited excavation and summary is not enough depth.Based on the re classification of female images, this paper analyzes the female images, and tries to analyze the multiple connotations of Journey to the West, which reflects the social status and the change of that status in the middle and later period of the Ming Dynasty. Literature creation and the creation of characters can not be separated from the background of the times and the influence of the national psychology at that time, and Wu Cheng’en is no exception. The image of women in the work with female characteristics of the late Ming Dynasty was the same, namely the traditional and rebellious combination, which is obtained by the mutual impact of the author’s influence from Neo Confucianism and new ideas which restrict the traditional thought of the time. Thus the whole work reflects the progressive and conservative two contradictory the views of women. This article tries to break through the tradition, with two points on the work of women. Through this interpretation of the female image, we will find their personality is not a single unified female image but rather a multi-faceted three-dimensional image, and often the essence of contradictions. |
