Expressionism In The Emotional Expression Of Representational Painting

Impressionism was an art movement in France at the end of the 19 th century. That was an age of “God is dead” which Friedrich Nietzsche called. The impressionism emphasizes the feeling and impression to the objective. Considering the subjectivity is only reality and it denies existence of objectivity in the real world but spiritual beauty. It also thinks that the art can not only act the visible and imitable objective facts, but also acting internal and invisible spiritual world.In representational painting, impressionism just makes the concrete thing as a medium or a reference. By using colors, lines, shapes and space etc., artists present the objective things on the canvas. However, that would be some difference between the fact and the presentation. It may looks exaggerated or weird. In fact, it is just a result of expressing the feelings by the artists. They put their emotion and thought onto the canvas through concrete things of objective world. In this article, I would combine ancient expressionist masterpiece and my own works on expressionism and talk about emotional expression of representational painting in expressionist art.
