Children's literature, with unique features, is all kinds of literary works which are suitable for children to read and enjoy. Children's literature is an independent literary genre, so when we translate children's literature, the writing purpose of the author should be understood by the translator properly and adequately. At the same time, the translator should pay attention to the writing style of the author, as well as the unique features of the target readers.The author takes the strategy of “style first” during this translation practice with the theoretical foundation of the Cooperative Principle. The work of this translation practice is to translate the English book into Chinese. With the aim to spread the joy of the original work to Chinese children, the stress should be laid on the preservation of the original style of children's simplicity and innocence. Therefore, the world across the distance of a continent and an ocean may be present in front of Chinese children.Through theoretical analysis and application of the Grice's the Cooperative Principle, this translation practice report attempts to explore the way how to preserve the special style of the original work when translating children's literature works. Combined the specific cases in the translation practice, this report takes advantage of the four maxims of the Cooperative Principle to preserve the accurate, concise and witty style of Here Comes Sophie in the translated work.
