The report is based on the E-C translation practice of The Magnificent Monsters of Cedar Street(Chapters 1-5)by American children’s literature writer Lauren Oliver. This book is about the adventures of various monsters in the forest. The protagonist Cordelia and her father dare to save those monsters in danger in the forest. In the process of getting along with the monsters,a series of warm, loving and unexpected stories take place between them. This text belongs to children’s literature. The theme of this text is novel, the perspective is unique, and the audience positioning is accurate. There are many typical translation phenomena worthy of study. The text has distinct literariness for children. On the premise of ensuring the accuracy of the translation, the author tries to reproduce the stylistic style of the text as far as possible in combination with the audience and the text situation. The stylistic features of this article is mainly embodied in two aspects: formal markers and informal markers.Formal markers are mainly expressed through phonological markers, syntactic markers and rhetorical markers;informal markers are mainly expressed through expression and the author’s horizon of expectation. The author mainly uses literal translation method in the translation of formal markers. On the premise of accurate translation, the author endeavors to retain the form of the source text or use the form of transformation to transform it into the corresponding Chinese expressions. When dealing with informal markers,we should adopt the translation method of free translation as the main method and literal translation as the auxiliary method,so as to retain children’s interest as much as possible.Through this translation practice report, the author hopes that this report can provide some references for translators who study this kind of texts in the future.
