| With the continuously deep-going of the reforming and economical development, our domestic construction industry has made tremendous progresses. A large amount of prominent construction companies turn to explore the extensive overseas market and take over the large-scale international construction projects. As a medium of communication, Civil Engineering English has the direct influences on the progress of Civil Engineering. In this respect, the author will select the translation of English for steel construction in the field as the target to study and for doing practice report.As a practical writing of science and technology, Civil Engineering English texts are mainly used to deliver technological information, and describe construction processes and regulations. Therefore, the translation should fully reflect its accuracy, objectivity and logicality, the translation also should take the cultural degree and acceptance of target audience into account.On the basis of Newmark’s text type theory translation, the author explores the Chinese-English translation of Sci-tech version. According to the division of Newmark’s theory, this technology belongs to the text of informative function, which is mainly composed of expressive information which is based on the fact. So in order to grasp the original information and deliver information accurately, the translator adopted varies translation solutions including amplification, literal translation, conversion, recombination to handle the problems of civil engineering terminologies and long complex sentences during the process of translation.Besides, this translation project is of considerable significance in examining, enriching and developing semantic translation theory via the translator’s practical application in technical text translation. At the same time, it is a good effort to translate civil engineering English texts and has provided a good example for translation reference. |
