With the rapid development of globalization and continually improvement of social and culture, an increasing number of foreign tourists are attracted to visit China to appreciate her profound cultural civilization and natural beauty. Guide interpreting, as a typical intercultural activity, emerges with this trend. Therefore in guide interpreting, interpreters are required to provide an accurate, clear and fluent interpretation in a very short time; in addition, considering cultural differences between western and oriental, guide interpreters also need to have a certain intercultural communication consciousness to offer tourists a both dispassionate and comprehensive interpretation. This report presents a combination of pertinent theoretical study and my guide interpreting practice. It is composed of five parts: Task Description, Process Description,Preparations for Interpretation, Case Analyses, and Summary. The first two chapters are generalization of the basic information about the whole interpreting practice in the Museum of Baoding Military Academy. In addition, Chapter 3 produces the whole process of preparation in much finer details. The case analyses mainly provide readers interpreting strategies in coping with difficulties during intercultural communication, especially difficulties related to the political and military culture of Chinese modern history; moreover, challenges and emergencies are also elaborated in this part. Chapter 5 is the conclusion which summarizes suggestions for the further practice, so as to improve the efficiency of intercultural communication and the performance of interpreting.
