Research On Laiyuan County's Military Defense System Of The Great Wall In Ming Dynasty

During almost lasted three hundred years, the Ming dynasty always fights with the Mongols.Because of severe foreign problem in the mid and late Ming dynasty, in order to strengthen the military defense of capital city region and safety of the tomb, the imperial court began to set up military towns and built the Great Wall in the capital city region. The Great Wall of Laiyuan county Baoding city in the Ming dynasty was built under the historial background.At the peak of the Great Wall construction in Ming dynasty is Jiajing to Wanli period. Academic circles always concern the Great Wall defense construction of this period, published a lot of academic achievements related the Great Wall. But for a long time in case that Laiyuan county jurisdictional area is relatively narrow, scholars do not pay more attention to its military defense system. It is the result that larger space investigated exists in the Great Wall research paragragh. This article will make some tentative study on Laiyuan county's military defense system of the Ming Great Wall that the acadmic field has not involved in. Through investigating Laiyuan county's military defense system of the Ming Great Wall, this article summarizes the content of six aspects including its defense structurion and space layout, detection pre-warning, military management system, the army corps, logistic service and reinforce coordination, and then explore its military defense characteristic from the perspective of both time and space, and research on the impact that the overall military defense of the the Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty acts on the political economy of the Ming Dynasty and adjustment of ethnic relationship. A multi-discipline perspective that investigating Laiyuan county's military defense system of the Ming Great Wall is the innovation of this article. The significance of this paper is to make up for the lack of academic research related the Ming Great Wall of Laiyuan County, and promote the development of the research work concerned the Great Wall in this area.
