Fumiko Hayashi(1903-1951) is a famous woman author in Japanese literary circles in the Showa. It was an author life who left thirty thousand works with her hardship of a short lifetime. Targeted for the work which are Fumiko Hayashi's first novel "horoki" and latter period works "bangiku" and "Ukigumo", through the typical personalities written on the novels,the female consciousness of the works were analyzed.The thesis consisted of five parts. The first part introduced preceding study, the purpose and the point of the study. The second part introduced Fumiko Hayashi and her literature.Mainly, the life of Fumiko Hayashi and her literary background, main work "horoki", "bangiku" and "Ukigumo" were introduced. It was analyzed about the various images of women in Fumiko Hayashi's work for the third part. Mainly "the indomitable heroine" image, the fugitive "Yukiko", the resister "osei" and the image of "okin" fight against the world were introduced. One for fourth part gathered the female consciousness embodied by a work from the image of women in a work. The fifth part analyzed the reasons of the female consciousness of Fumiko Hayashi literary. From four perspectives which are Fumiko Hayashi's growth, relationship between Fumiko Hayashi and her mother, the time background and the social environment were investigated. The end is a summary of the thesis. The problem were gathered and the left problem which was done and the future research task were made clear.
