A Contrastive Analysis Of Judges 'Criticism Strategies In Chinese And Ameriean Talent Show

Under the background of globalization, all the countries share prosperity in economics and culture. Differences in many trans-cultural phenomenon inspired the attention of scholars, and them made a lot of deep thinking and preciseness study. With own distinctive personality and characteristics in the historical evolution and cultural fields, so China and the United States is often chosen as a typical representative of Eastern and Western cultures.With the power of the media and public propaganda, Chinese and American people formed a fixed impression of each other. Whether there is a rigid stereotypes, it deserves more research and exploration. In many outstanding programs, I chose talent show, which caused a national sensation effect--NBC broadcast of "America's got talent show" with China Eastern TV "China talent show" and both the copyright from one production company and they share a lot of similarity. So the research method is feasible and reliable.Criticism is a unique form in communication of social life, different from praise,greeting and congratulation. The differences in psychological and value characteristics of different cultures,resulting in differences in the choice of criticism strategies. Previous study of praise or criticism often based on the questionnaire survey and the words fill to collect data, but the way collected corpus is in the scenario, lack of real reaction, thereby reducing the persuasiveness of corpus. The thesis based on five seasons of "China talent show" and "America's got talent" critical discourse, to establish a closed corpus and carries on the contrast analysis, aims to explore occurring naturally in the formal scene criticism statement,and specific differences in critical strategy of effective communication. The original intention of this article is to contribute strength to our criticism strategy research and exchange of culture research. However this paper only involves the study of comparative criticism strategies, relative to other criticism aspect there is more room to step in. Due to the article length and personal ability's limit, I was not able to do macro research and look forward that more scholars will make further research in the future.
