During the Johnson Administration, the policy of the USA to Laos belonged to one part of the strategies of the American Cold War. FRUS Laos 1964-1968 Volume XXVIII was the original archive of researching the policy of USA to Laos during the Johnson Administration, which included the forming process, basic principle, attitude and content. The thesis centers on these original materials, analyzing deeply and comprehensively the policy of the USA to Laos during the Johnson Administration. The thesis discusses the relations between the USA and Laos, both investigating the origin and content of the policy and placing the emphasis on the evolution and influence of it. Hoping to do good to the profound research of the policy of the USA to Laos in our nation's field of history study.The thesis is composed of three parts:Introduction is supposed to bring to the fore the state of the art of the studies of the issue under consideration both at home and abroad. It is argued that historians at home have to date done relatively little on the issue, whereas scholars overseas have not so far produced quite a few monographs on it, either. The works usually mentioned several related problems with Laos attached when digging into the policy of the USA to Vietnam, or researched the American War in Laos on a whole from various aspects. The thesis systematically research the policy of the USA to Laos during the Johnson Administration using the records of the State Department.Part One account for the origin of the policy of the USA to Laos during the Johnson Administration, namely the policy of the USA to the Southeast Asia from 1945 to 1968 and the policy of the USA to Laos during the Eisenhower and Kennedy Administrations.Part Tow analyse systematically the American political and militarypolicy centering on the FRUS Laos 1964-1968 Volume XXVIIIPart Three analyse and appraise the policy of the USA to Laos during the Johnson Administration. Reflect the influence of the policy of the USA to Laos during the Johnson Administration since the USA adjusted the policy to the Southeast Asia during the Nixon Administration. Meanwhile, appraise the policy from several aspects, such as the reason why the Johnson Administration interfered Laos' policy, the difference between the policy of the Johnson Administration and the predecessor Administration and similarities the implement result of the policy etc.Conclusion: The policy of the USA to Laos during the Johnson Administration was the outcome of the spread of Contain Strategy, influenced by the American global strategy and Southeast Asia policy. The Domino Theory was the theoretical root of the interference policy of the Johnson Administration to Laos. The policy of the USA to Laos during the Johnson Administration at a certain extent controled the policy of the USA to the Southeast Asia and had an influence on the policy during the Nixon Administration, which had the inherent continuity and distinction with the policy towards Laos during the Eisenhower and Kennedy Administrations.
