This is a translation report based on the author’s hands-on practice. The author is entrusted to translate a piece of Chinese social academic paper, titled "Ge-yi":Cultural Coloration of Logic in the Chinese Context which expounds that because of the differences between the traditional Chinese and Western thoughts, the interpretation of logic through Ge-yi cannot do without some bias to it, thus cultural coloration of logic in the Chinese context is created. This paper focuses on Confucian coloration, Taoist coloration and Mohist coloration during the translation of Logic in the Chinese context. The translation is required to be completed within three months with high quality that is accurate, concise and standard. The translating process consists of pre-translation, translation and post-translation. Based on the analysis of source text’s textual features, target readers, and in light of relevant translation studies, this report represents the "technicality" and "readability" of the academic paper in terminology translation, classical Chinese quotation translation, and long and complicated sentences translation. This report is made up of five chapters. In chapter one, there is a brief introduction, including project description, project brief and translation process. Chapter two presents pre-translation preparation which covers the analysis of the source text, translation resources and related studies. Chapter three is the main body, which provides the discussion on achieving the balance between "technicality" and "readability" in academic paper translation through the analysis of terminology translation, classical Chinese quotation translation and long and complex sentences translation. Chapter four is about the proofreading and review, including self-proofreading and evaluation. The last chapter is conclusion, which is about findings and limitations. In terminology translation, the author chooses the strategies of adopting established versions, back translation and transliteration. During classical Chinese quotation translation, the author chooses restructuring, literal translation and free translation. When dealing with long and complex sentences, the author uses passive voice, division and inversion.
