The Study Of Soviet Nationals In Gansu And Xinjiang During The Period Of The Republic Of China

During the period of the Soviet Union, the phenomenon of Soviet immigrants located in the areas of Xinjiang Gansu in China has been one of the historical issues that were arisen by the reasons of politics, economy, culture, war, and other facts. As the boundary area, Xinjiang was the first stop to accept the Soviet immigrants, and Gansu was a little further east region next to Xinjiang where the immigrants came in. These immigrants have been the important parts of the local populations and attracting lots of attentions by many scholars.The period of the Republic of China was the dramatic time when the Soviet immigrants settled down in Gansu and Xinjiang, and during this period, most of them had integrated into the local communities and societies. The Soviet immigrants to China caused by the complicated reasons, such as the international relationships between China and Soviet, meanwhile, it also affected the relationships between both countries. For example, the cases of immigrants, such as why they migrated and where they relocated, all reflected the historical backgrounds of the two countries. Therefore, a study on Soviet immigrants in China is a good view on the relationships between China and Soviet in history. But the studies, it seems not being caused too much attention by scholars nowadays. This paper bases on this point and examines the resources of the Soviet immigrants in China, especially in the research of their numbers, distributions, identifications, activities and etc. has a complete study.This paper analyzes the large materials by scientific methods, from the complicated data, I tried to comb and derive a historical truth. During the research, I used tables, maps, and iconographies to illustrate the immigrants’moving directions, population, main locations and living status. The main goal of this paper is to call more attention on this special historical phenomenon between China and Soviet.
