With the deepening and developing of the exchange and cooperation between China and American, there are more and more studies on Sino-American intercultural communication. As a kind of literary theme, the overseas Chinese literature especially the novel, has an unique value on studying about the Sino-American intercultural communication. Geling Yan is praised as one of the most influential new immigrant writers. She makes a remarkable achievement in the field of new immigrant novel creation. Her new immigrant novels have an important value on reflecting the Sino-American intercultural communication and it’s also a new field for the Sino-American intercultural communication study. So I choose such a perspective to study the Sino-American intercultural communication. The chapter1of the dissertation provides a sketch of the American Chinese literature and Geling Yan’s new immigrant novel creation, introducing the reason for object selecting,the present research situation and the framework of the dissertation. In chapter2, based on the reading her novels, I summarize the new Chinese immigrants’ images and analyze the differences among groups of immigrants in living conditions, cultural identity and intercultural communication concept. In chapter3,1pay attention to the intercultural communication phenomenons that shown in the novels, summarizing and analysing the factors that affect cross-cultural communication, such as the language, culture psychology and interpersonal relationship. In chapter4, I analyse Geling Yan’s equal, rational and inclusive intercultural communication concept that shown in her novels and explore the novel’s value and inspiration for teaching Chinese and Chinese immigrants in American.
