Recently,the researches on folk characters were mainly focused by the domestic linguistician,and also were main content of the modern Chinese study.This paper studied the folk characters use about the block of traditional Chinese medicine books " Yi Fa Zhi Nan " in the Qing Dynasty,revealing the main appearance of the folk characters use.This paper consists of four parts: the first chapter is the introduction.It mainly introduces the Yi Fa Zhi Nan,the status of the folk characters about books of traditional Chinese medicine,the research significance and the research methods of the folk characters in Yi Fa Zhi Nan.The second chapter is the research of the folk characters in Yi Fa Zhi Nan.The regular and folk characters were combined for using in Yi Fa Zhi Nan,which was an obvious character.Moreover,the folk characters could be divided into similar pronunciation caused characters,heritage characters,similar form caused characters,and characters made by author.The third chapter introduced the origin mechanism and sample explaination of the folk characters in Yi Fa Zhi Nan.Hundreds of folk characters were listed and discussed by the “characters caused by similar propunciations" and "characters caused by similar formations".Furthermore,the formation and origin mechanism of characters were studied by comparing with the folk character and regular character.This chapter was not only solved the character problems in this book,but also offered some references for writing of large language words.The fourth chapter summarized the types and formation mechanisms of folk characters in Yi Fa Zhi Nan.Finally,its position in the history of chinese characters was introduced.
