The Impacts Of Wooden New Year Painting Color On Modern Oil Paintings

It has been hundreds of years since the oil painting introduced into China. To develop the oil painting in modern China, it's important to upgrade the painting skills as well as combine it with Chinese culture and traditions. Thus, the awakening of national consciousness is essential, the research and inheritance of folk traditional art is also indispensable. As an important form of folk traditional arts, wooden New Year painting played an important role on the history of Chinese oil painting. In the 21st century, the collision and fusion between western and eastern culture is becoming increasingly intense. In the context of image society and democratization of art,Color is a crucial component of visual arts and has a far-reaching influence on wooden New Year painting. Color language is also an important aspect of oil paint-ing. With the nutrition absorbing from wooden New Year painting, the color language of Chinese modern oil painting is developing into a form with more national characteristics and better international vision. Generations of artists have been pursuing the new way to combine the folk arts (wooden New Year painting, etc.) with modern oil painting. The effects about wooden New Year painting towards Chinese modern oil painting manifest reflect in three ways:ornamental color effects, symbolic color perception, and hierarchic color modulation.This study discusses the impacts of wooden New Year painting on modern oil painting fields, which includes four parts:Firstly, the concepts of modern oil painting and wooden New Year painting are illustrated; the history of both is introduced. Besides, the research scope is identified.Secondly, the formation of color styles about wooden New Year painting is discussed. This paper also illustrates the features of wooden New Year painting-symbolic, decorative and objective.Thirdly, the impacts of wooden New Year painting color on modern oil painting are analyzed from three aspects:(1) the background about the effects of wooden New Year painting on Chinese modern oil painting; (2) the process and ways of these effects; (3) some cases about these effects.Finally, based on the inheritance and limitation, this paper discusses the enlightenment about the impacts of wooden New Year painting towards modern oil painting. According to the present practice, this paper gives some thoughts on the employment of wooden New Year painting in Chinese modern oil painting.
