This report is a reflection of the E-C translation practice of the article 2013 7-ELEVEN Corporate Social Responsibility Report in light of Newmark’s translation theory. The original text of this translation practice is the corporate social report with the function of foreign propaganda. The words are professionally and precisely accurate. From the perspective of discourse, considerable consideration is given to parataxis and long sentences and phrases containing five or four words can frequently be found in this text. According to different text functions, Newmark divides texts into three types: expressive text, informative text and vocative text. He subsequently develops two translation strategies:semantic translation and communicative translation. This report mainly discuss the guidance effect of text type theories and the relevant translation method on the translation process of 20137-ELEVEN Corporate Social Responsibility Report. After analyzing the general characteristics of publicity texts, the original text, and the discourse, the author decides, in the process of language transferring, to follow the translation methods of communicative translation as the main translation strategy supplemented by semantic translation with the attempt to render a translation that is accurate, rigorous, coherent, and professional. In addition, this report also discusses the specific translation skills adopted in the language transferring practice based upon a carefully conducted comparison of logic difference between English and Chinese texts, including literal translation, free translation, transliteration, and etc. to reshape the logic relations of the translation text. By doing that, the translation standard is obtained and the translation text is of strong readability.This translation report is consisted of the following five parts:The first part is an introduction of the translation project. The second part explains the preparations made by the author before the start of translation including the related researches of international publicity translation, the analysis of the characteristics of the original text, and the preparation of assisting tools. The third part mainly discusses how to make a decision of the translation strategies to be followed in the translation process in line with the concerning translation theories. The fourth part presents some most representative translation samples in the elaboration of how translation strategy previously made has been successfully achieved through apt uses of translation skills. The last part is conclusion, summing up the translation experience gained and pointing out the inadequacies in the translation practice to be further improved.
