Due to the increasingly frequent communication between China and the rest of the world, a growing number of foreigners are coming to China for a visit, which has great influence on the development of China's domestic tourism industry. Therefore, the English translation of the introductions to Chinese tourist attractions, which serves as a window for foreigners to understand Chinese culture and history, has become increasingly significant. Chengdu, as a well-renowned historical and cultural city in western China, a bright pearl in southwest China, is an ideal destination for foreign tourists. In late October,2014, Pauline Allen, CEO of the International Federation of Aromatherapists came to Chengdu, and she visited the Panda Base and Kuan & Zhai Alley. The author went with her as an escort interpreter. This thesis is based on this experience. In the thesis, the author introduced how she prepared for the interpreting and the whole process of the escort interpreting, with emphasis placed on the problems she came across during the process of interpreting. The report is divided into four parts. The first part describes the task, including its background and features. The second part records the pre-interpreting preparations, including collection of the related data, preparation of translation auxiliary tools and draft of the glossary terms. The third part uses relevant translation techniques to analyze the problems confronted in the process. The fourth part is the reflection on the experience. The author hopes the report will bring some illumination to escort interpreting of tourist attractions, and help to promote the interpretation quality.
