The Chronicle Biography Of Xu Youren

Xu Youren(1287-1364),styled Keyong,born in Tangyin of Pengde(Anyang City,Henan Province today).His father Xu Xizai worked as shogunate in Hunan,later in Linjiang,Lingling,Hengyang,Wuhan and other places of Hubei Provence.Xu Youren had followed his father to live and study nearby the areas of Hunan and Hubei,nurtured by the South culture and famous teachers.He read a lot of books,and became known when he was very little.He was very intelligent when young,taking in ten lines at a glance.Once he read the The Jing Ju Yuan Monument,he never forgot.At the age of twenty,he was recommended to Hanlin position,but failed.Later he was granted as Xuezheng officer on Kaining Road,the provision of inexpensive North Hill visit Division clerks.In the 2rd year of Yanyou(1315),imperial examination system was open for the first time in Yuan Dynasty.Youren passed it and was granted Tongzhi officer in Liao state.Then he entered the Yuan dynasty politics.He moved from official Department Principal,Can Zhi Zheng Shi in the center,Zuocheng,to the official Imperial Academy Cheng Zhi,Jixian scholar and Prince Zuo Yude.Youren had been in politics for nearly five decades,and served 7 emperors.He had been to the central government for three times.As a Han,which is not easy in the Yuan Dynasty.Xu Youren was an upright man.He dared to express his opinion bluntly and was known for having no fear of the powerful.The late Yuan Dynasty rulers treated Han suspiciously,even so,confronted with the affairs of state,Xu Youren still behaved as usual without any word left and he was known for“When holders of reckless behavior,a little disobedient will be squeezed,he was never afraid to admonish in spite of death”.In particular,he made great efforts and contributions to the maintenance of the imperial examination system.The manager of governmental affairs Cherry Timur admonished the Jin Shi Ke for his own benefit,Youren defended for him,thus offending Bayan,and was humiliated.Xu Youren was good at words.His poetry was forceful and powerful without any empty word which were of great historical literature value and recognition value.He was also known as a Guan-ge master in Yuan dynasty.His book Zhi Zheng Ji,A Draft of Guitang and Gui Tang Ei Nai Ji handed down.As a famous officer,Xu Youren spanned the course of two-thirds of the Yuan Dynasty,and was an influential figure in the late Yuan Dynasty.Whether in politics or literature,he had a high reputation.However,researches about him and his works were rare.Therefore,collecting his finishing Chronicle is beneficial not only to sort out his life experiences,to seek out the root causes of his thinking and behavior,but also to lay a solid foundation for further research on the meaning and value of his works.This article seeks to have a comprehensive collection of Xu Youren’s life story,poetry anthology,as well as relevant historical information and strives to conduct a research in the following areas:Firstly,based on the existing Chronicle,a more detailed and accurate spectrum of the main life track will be stored,and some unclear arguments or some unknown history biography problems will be interpreted and supplemented.Secondly,the spectrum of the main prose works will be textually and chronically distinguished.Thirdly,based on the above research studies,this paper strives to further demonstrate and reflect the spectrum of the main historical living background.
