Interpretation plays an increasingly important role in the international arena, whether in the political, economic or diplomatic activities. Note-taking as one of the most important auxiliary tools is of great significance during the interpretation process, especially for relieving memory burden and improving interpretation quality. However, improper approaches to dealing with notes or incorrect understanding of notes may influence the understanding and analysis of the source language. This practice report, based on the author's interpretation practice in the Opening Ceremony of 2015 Fall Semester, School of International Education, DUT, in combination with the effort model by Daniel Gile, aims to analyze the note-taking problems in the interpretation process from Chinese into English and summarizes principles, methods and feasible solutions to these problems so as to better guide interpretation practice and further improve interpretation quality in the future. This report comprises four parts:task description, task process, case analysis and conclusion. The first part mainly introduces the background of the task; the second part mainly focuses on the pre-interpretation preparation and the task process; the third part, through case study, mainly analyses the major problems in note-taking during the interpreting practice and put forward corresponding solutions to these problems; the last part concludes the main principles and strategies for note-taking in consecutive interpretation.Interpretation note-taking doesn't mean mere symbols without logical connections but taking down key information according to the understanding of the original text and logical connections In a word, the author comes to the following note-taking principles:sticking to the principle of brain memory first and note-taking second; trying to take notes in the target language; grasping the key information and logical connection; being familiar with the most commonly used symbols and abbreviations; creating one's individual note-taking system. The author hopes that this report can be a helper or enlightenment for beginners and student interpreters who have problems in note-taking of interpreting.
