Study On The Hunting Culture Of The Yao Nationality

Hunting is one of Yao’s production mode in China, is one of the important channels, yao get meat is an important complement, Yao’s economic life in the Yao culture occupies an important position.Because of numerous wild animals in the Jinxiu county Dayao Mountain, hunting,with distinctive tools, methods and rich practical experience, plays a striking role in the life of the Yao people. This thesis focuses the attention on the hunting culture in the Jinxiu county Dayao Mountain, and conducts research on the hunting culture of the Yao people. The thesis will expatiate from four aspects. First, I will discuss the development of the hunting of the Yao people and its regulation, which will reveal the influence of Yao’s hunting on its ethnic customs and folk culture. Second,I will sort out and reach conclusion on the tools, methods and skills of the Yao’s hunting and behaviours of wild animals. Then, I will further analyze its social functions of providing livelihoods, endowing hunting to force, entertaining and so on. Finally, I will summarize the hunting experience by classifying the field materials.
