| The Srinbo Mountain deity is seen as located at the borders of Jianzha and Guide Counties. It is regarded as the younger brother of the largest holy mountain AniRmachen venerated and worshipped by people live in vicinity and beyond. Moreover, since the area where the mountain is located was strategically an important area for border military of the dynastic Tibet, people in the area have inherited a variety of traditions that could be dated back to thousands of years. Such main traditions include bsang or religious offering and distinctive monastic traditions emerged as a result of different sectors and religious practices. The topic I intend to study is the praising recitations of the mountain deity that accompany bsang. As one of the important elements of local culture and Tibetan literature at large, the tradition is an embodiment of both folk and classical literatures. Despite its significance it carries, scholars who often take a great interest traditional Tibetan culture rarely research the topic. Seeing the void, I plan to conduct a comparative study of the tradition with a main focus on meaning and composition of the praising recitation texts. This research paper consists of seven chapters as the following:· Chapter One:Significance ofthe topic· Chapter Two:A brief description and study of Tibetan mountain deity culture by studying analyzing other related studies.· Chapter Three:Origin of Srinbo Mountain deity through Tibetan paintings and folk stories.· Chapter Four:Study of praising recitations with a focus on recitation texts, framework of the texts, artistic style, and distinctive content of the recitations.· Chapter Five:Social life of local people in relations with evolvement of religious offerings to mountain deities. |
