| In the cultivation of professional interpreters, listening comprehension problems are the most crucial and sophisticated part of the training courses. Listening comprehension problems are mainly contributed by the differences of listening comprehension and traditional simplex English listening training. In another word, interpreters need to comprehend not only the general meaning of original text content, but also the logical relations of it, and more importantly, interpreters must interpret all of the original text content accurately into the target language. And this is quite hard for student interpreters who are used to study traditional listening training courses, because in most cases, they improve their listening abilities only for the purpose of dealing with examinations. This thesis aims to study the listening comprehension problems and its coping strategies for the student interpreters by comparing the script of my interpretation work with the reference version. Firstly, the study object is a speech that I have interpreted during my usual practice. Secondly, I listen to the recordings repeatedly and study the high frequency of listening comprehension difficulties in my practice. Lastly, I seek to discover coping strategies, including the practice of the reading and listening training of source language, and the cultivation of comprehensive ability of the interpreters. |
