Guo Xiaodong is a writer who has mastered both in novel creation and literary research. He has showed special attention to female problem in his twelve novels and created different female images of different era, class and disposition. All of these female images converged and formed unique character landscapes. He took a profound research in Eva Expelled from the Garden of Eden which reflects his unique outlook on feminism, gender and culture.Differed from female writers adopting the inner perspective and relying on female life experience to reflect female psychological change,Guo Xiaodong has his own different focus on forming female characters: In order to portray changes of female fates during the era’s transition,he laid emphasis on the relationship among the fates of female, era, politics and cultures.Sorting out all female images created by Guo Xiaodong, there is a soaring trend of the disillusion of self-consciousness and he depicted the process of female self-awareness.These females once lost in the dilemma of self-identity and revolted the male-dominated society by escaping. In the end, they released lust, expressed themselves fully, achieved self-redemption,and then established female self-awareness through taking the era as an opportunity.Based on combining fiction creation with gender theory, taking Guo xiaodong’s novel creation as longitude and taking his feminism theory as latitude, this thesis aims to sort out Guo Xiaodong’s female writing, observe forms of expression and rheological process of female self-consciousness in his novels, and then reveals Guo Xiaodong’s standpoint of gender culture in his texts.
