Great literary works originate from daily life, which is an important medium for cultural exchange. Novel, as a common genre of literature, is popular with many people, so the translation of novel has long been attracting the attention of many translators. However, different writers have different writing styles, which include the choice of words, the structures of sentences and the figures of speech and so on, so it's a great challenge for a translator to reproduce the style of the original work. In the translating practice of Animal Farm (chapter 7 to chapter 10) which was written by English writer George Orwell. This report was just a summary of the translating project. It consists of five chapters. The first chapter introduces the background, the significance of the project and the structure of the report; the second chapter analyzes the original text, including the author, the writing background and the language style of the text; the third chapter introduces the semantic translation theory, which includes the definition of semantic translation and its norms; the forth chapter is the cases study, the main focus of which is how to apply the semantic translation theory to reproducing the style of the original novel, and also summarize the translating skills used in the process of translating, such as transposition, adaptation, compensation and so on; the last chapter is just the conclusion which shows what I have got through the translating practice, and the shortcomings that I have to overcome.
