Watercolor painting has a history of one hundred years in China,it can flourish today,contact with our country's natural environment, climate conditions, customs and culture and the like. Different regional features make our country's water color landscape showing a unique regional,it also provides valuable resources for Chinese watercolor landscape painting, make the creation of watercolor painting connotation more rich, the creation form more diverse.Regional is one of the important factors that affect the artistic creation.This paper is aimed at the regional problem of the watercolor landscape in the South and the North of China,from the characteristics of the times and geographical features of watercolor landscape painting with the causes of the formation of regional,has carried on the deep layer to watercolor landscapes of regional exploration.In order to have a more profound understanding of regional influence in watercolor landscape painting themes, techniques and styles,thus, in the future, more active in the creation of watercolor landscape from the regional, showing the local characteristics and style, and promote the regional development of Chinese watercolor landscape painting.This article mainly through three parts to explore and research:The first part, from the characteristics of the times and geographical features to analyze the reasons for the formation of regional water color landscape in southern China, so that we have a preliminary understanding of the historical background and human geography of the formation of watercolor landscape.In the second part, the author discusses the choice of subject matter, the style of painting and the technique of painting,at the same time, with the representative of the watercolor landscape painters and their works as an example, to explore the characteristics of the regional landscape of southern and Northern Chinese watercolor landscape, from which to see the elegant beauty of the southern watercolor and the simple beauty of the northern watercolor.The third part,from the regional to see the diversity of watercolor landscape painting, and explore the Chinese north and south of watercolor landscape painting in the future on the road should be how to develop, to make Chinese watercolor painting in the later creation in both regional and epochal spirit.
