The Research Of Greenish White Sculptural Porcelain Pillow From Jingdezhen Of Song-yuan

With high productivity, Jingdezhen was prospering in the ceramic industry in Song dynasty and, originally, created the greenish white porcelain. In Yuan dynasty,for the reason of wars alike, ceramic craftsmen migrating from north to south, from various areas of China, gathered in Jingdezhen and they jointly developed this place into a center of producing the ceramics of the country. Abundant historically well-known exquisite ceramics were actually produced in Jingdezhen. During the Song-Yuan period, a large amount of household porcelain were manufactured here.Among these, the greenish white sculptural porcelain marked the top featuring with its exquisiteness. In different historical periods, the greenish white ceramic had different names, such as yingqing, yinqing, zhaoqing etc. Whereas in this paper, it is called as ‘the greenish white porcelain' in light of our focus on the Song-Yuan period during which people called it this name.Porcelain pillows played an importantly material and spiritual role in ancient Chinese people's life. Though were used as everyday uses, porcelain pillows in different forms and designs embodied with distinct aesthetic senses and spirits.The design and manufacturing skill of greenish white porcelain of Yuan dynasty extended the tradition of South Song dynasty, for this reason, the research of this paper focuses on the Song-Yuan period. And thus based on Song-Yuan period chronically and on Jingdezhen spatially, the types, manufacturing methods and functions are mainly discussed in this paper. The relationship between the style change of the greenish white sculptural porcelain pillow and the social culture of the Song-Yuan period and the socially and historically cultural value of this type of porcelain are further discussed as well as the socially and historically cultural value of the greenish white sculptural porcelain pillow.
