Learning motivation is one of the important non-intellectual factors that influence student’s foreign language learning,which has been widely accepted both at home and abroad.In our country,foreign language education field has paid attention to the research on foreign language learning motivation and focused on doing related research.However,judging from the published academic papers and recent academic symposiums,we find no research studying the English learning motivation of students in Min-Tai project.The Joint Talent Training Project by Colleges from Fujian and Taiwan,namely,Min-Tai project,has just emerged from the higher education field in recent years,and is still under exploration stage.Min-Tai project shows many new characteristics: firstly,the participants are relatively poor educated in terms of academic aspect;secondly,the course setting is more international;and thirdly,the project aims to cultivate rare,practical and internationalized talents.These factors make students of Min-Tai project become a brand-new college student group.However,there has been no research on the learning motivation of this group.The author takes 283 college students from three majors in Min-Tai project of grade 2014 as the research objects,makes exploratory factor analysis of the questionnaire,and the result shows that Min-Tai students’ English learning motivation has the three-dimensional factor structure.In the meanwhile,the author gets an official questionnaire with three dimensions through exploratory factor analysis.The author investigated another batch of Min-Tai students(totally 250 students)with official questionnaire,makes confirmatory factor analysis,and the result verifies the three-dimensional factor model of Min-Tai students’ English learning motivation.Reliability and validity of these three kinds of English learning motivation are both good,which certifies three-dimensional factor model of Min-Tai students’ English learning motivation.Finally,the author analyzes and checks difference of Min-Tai students’ three kinds of learning motivation in gender,major,town and country,and finds there is a significant difference between boys and girls on internal interest motivation,the total scale has obvious difference in gender;students from different majors have significant difference on internal interest motivation;urban and rural students have obvious difference on internal interest motivation.According to the investigation result,the paper puts forward the teaching suggestions: 1.to implement graded teaching in Min-tai college students’ English learning;2.to optimize Min-tai college students’ English learning by understanding their “zone of proximal development;3.To Integrate Min-tai college students’ extracurricular English learning with their class-room English learning by practicing the flipped classroom principles;4.Teach through lively activities,integrate teaching with practice. |
