Consecutive Interpreting Simulation Report Of Honeywell CEO Speeches

With the further development of economy and society,the relationship between China and the international community is getting closer,and so are cultural exchanges between countries.Public speeches by VIP figures,as an important means of cultural and spiritual diffusion,are gaining increasing popularity worldwide,and English to Chinese interpretation plays an important role in transferring such information.The author(here in after in the paper referred to as "the interpreter" for clearer reference)believes that such public speeches can greatly open an interpreter's horizon and enhance interpreting abilities.For these reasons,the author chose as practical task three masterly public speeches of Dave Cote,Honey Well CEO on different occasions,with different crowds and purposes,and designed and implemented a mimic consecutive interpretation.The whole mimic interpretation process was recorded.Based on the recording,the author went through detailed content arrangement and analysis.The first chapter of this report briefs an introduction of the task background information and makes clear the writing objectives and significance.Chapter two introduces three aspects of preparations before interpretation.Chapter three is the case analysis part,in which adopted interpretation strategies are being elaborated,including linear interpreting,amplification,omission and so on.In addition,figure interpretation skills and long and difficult sentences analysis are also presented here.In the final concluding part,the author sums up the task and points out the main problems existing in the interpreting process,which are long and difficult sentences,missing words and some low-lever mistakes.On the basis of these,the author makes some practical suggestions.It is in the author's hope that this report may be able to help improve the interpreting performance in the future,and offer practical suggestions for other interpreters.
