This is a translation report on Translation Quality Assessment: Past and Present by Juliane House, a world-famous expert in translation quality assessment theory. It is a new and excellent book about translation quality assessment researches. The chosen material, Chapter Nine and part of Chapter Ten, mainly discusses globalization and its relevance for cultural filtering in translation quality assessment. This book is an academic work, belonging to an informative text and the translator will translate it under Vermeer’s Skopos theory. The translation project consists of four chapters : chapter one mainly discusses the background, preparations, objectives and significance of the report; chapter two shows the basic information of the source text; chapter three presents the translation difficulties and problems, and solve them by translation techniques including shift, division and combination, adopted under the Skopos theory; chapter four summarizes the lessons gained from this translation project and points out the problems to be solved. It is hoped that this translation report will provide a reference for the study and practice of academic texts translation and further improve the quality of such texts translation.
