The "New Experimentalism" Literature Of Can Xue

As a member of the Avant-garde writers in China, Can Xue has continuously written for nearly 30 years. During this long period, she gradually found her own way to express the avant-garde spirit, and even when the other writers in the same front chose to change their styles, she not only insisted her New Experimentalism Literature, but also carried it forward in her writings.In the early 21st century, Can Xue put forward the conception of New Experimentalism Literature based on her novel writing experiences. This conception is a simplified conclusion of her literary thoughts and ideas, and also a representation of her writing style and pursuits.This thesis will make a move on the summary of Can Xue's writings from the perspective of her conception of New Experimentalism Literature, so that to stress her insistence on literary experiments and exploring the inner world of human beings.At first, the thesis would give a detailed description of the content of New Experimentalism Literature and the related literary notions, such as ego, division, and experiment on oneself. Then the outlook of the novels written by Can Xue will be introduced, in discussing the content, three original conceptions will be introduced into this essay to better clarify the mode of Can Xue's writing. Those conceptions include the Ideal Role, the Support Role, and also the Representative of Reality. The three classifications of characters widely exist in Can Xue's writings.The next move will be exploring the connection between the 'reality' in Can Xue's writings and the reality we live in. Be more specific, this chapter is explaining the transformation of daily experience in Can Xue's work, and the objects of transformation include daily conversation, moral standard, life experience and the mythological narrative beyond daily experience is also mentioned.The vertical scenes and images in Can Xue's New Experimentalism Literature will be discussed in the third chapter. The vertical scenes and images is the representation of the ideal of New Experimentalism Literature, which is enhancing oneself and savior the all.Finally, I will give my evaluation of Can Xue's works in the context of contemporary Chinese literature, especially the Avant-garde Literature in China.
