Study On Wang Anshi’s Historical And Nostalgic Poems

Wang Anshi(1021-1086), with Jiefu as the style name and Banshan as the pseudonym, was a famous thinker, statesman, writer, reformer of the Northern Song Dynasty. Since the ninth century, there were many controversies on his political reform. We always have respect for his literary achievements with more than fifteen hundred poems, including lyrical, farewell and historic poetry, which are different in forms like verses, or quatrains, reflecting the poet’s talent. Wang Anshi was a self-discipline, high-hearted Chinese scholar who had full consideration in his country and its people. His political reform could be seen as the carry out of his worries. And at the same time, he created a series of historic poems, showing his determination of the political reform, and also his loneliness as a reformist. Specific research on these poems combine with the history of his life, can let us better understand these poems and himself.This paper consists of six parts.The first part is an introduction, including ideas, significance, literature review, research methods and means.The second part discusses the concept of historic poem, and gives a clear describe of its origin and development, as it was first founded in the "Book of Songs", developed in Wei Jin Dynasties, further improved in the Tang Dynasty and perfected in the Song Dynasty.The third part is a brief overview of Wang Anshi’s life, thoughts and literary achievements, with an emphasis in hiss literary achievements in historic poems.The fourth part is the specific analysis and classification of Wang Anshi’s historic poems, studies the year of their creation and artistic features, ideas, content, feelings, etc., and finds that Wang’s historic poems were created together with his political reform, which is the key part of this article.The fifth part is to explore the impacts of Wang Anshi’s historic poems, including the impact of Du Mu’s historic poems on Wang and the influence of Wang’s poetry on Jiangxi Poetic Group, like Huang Tingjjiang.The sixth part is the conclusion, it is a brief summary of the historic poems of Wang Anshi.
