| With the continuous expanding of city structure and scope, city is becoming more and more complicated. The urban population rapidly explodes, and public transportation system is becoming more and more mixed. The urban space develops towards a compound direction, for example, the function of shopping mall develops towards multiple compounds, including shops, hotels, restaurants, entertainments and beauty shops, and shopping mall becomes a gigantic street block. The continuous developing cities make local residents feel strange and terrified towards the originally familiar space, people have to try to fumble in the cities. With the explosive increase of information amount, life becomes monotonous and narrow.Indoor direction sign is the important part of urban public facility building, is the carrier of scientific implementation and facility and graphic symbols. This system needs a planning and designing process from global level to local level, and also needs two steps work: first of all, it needs to analyze and evaluate the whole city, detailed analyzing and getting to know the characteristics of the city, analyzing its main public space, activities mode, activities group and forecast of primary and secondary population flow direction; secondly, based upon the public facility's function and district division of the building the indoor space belongs to, it needs to determine the types of graphic symbol of public information which needs to be discerned.This essay specifically develops research investigation on indoor directing system design, concludes the existing shortcomings and defects in indoor directing systems through the analysis of great design cases at home and abroad and proposes detailed solutions. This essay strives to find issues on indoor directing system design and its solutions, seeking for a design road fitting local characteristics.This essay mainly divides into seven parts:The first part: summarize the research background and research meaning of this essay, and comprehensively introduce the entire thinking path and framework.The second part: give a general introduction on the concept and theory, history and status of indoor directing system design, and introduce the key points and classification of directing system design in detail.The third part: from the perspective of indoor environment analyze all kinds of environment issues which shall be considered when conducting indoor directing system design, and analyze the design principle which shall be obeyed to based upon this environment.The fourth part: deeply analyze the existing issues on the settings of indoor directing system.The fifth part: due to all the issues proposed in chapter four, respectively propose solutions, for the purpose of making our indoor directing system's settings more normative and scientific.The sixth part: the application of new media technology is the inevitable trend of future indoor directing system design.
